Description:
Ovarian tumours of low malignant potential (borderline ovarian cancer) are benign tumours with a highly favourable prognosis. However, as the disease can not be accurately differentiated from malignant ovarian cancer until histological assessment following biopsy, its suspected diagnosis carries a particular element of uncertainty and therefore concern for a woman. This article describes the treatment and management of patients diagnosed with ovarian low malignant potential tumours and the role of the specialist nurse therein.
