  • Description:   Respect was something that came almost automatically for Fassel, especially when your dad is New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel. But it's more than just the name. Fassel, 29, was a wide receiver at Weber State University and played for the Indianapolis Colts in the summer of 1999. It's a resume that can catch a college player's attention. The offense is in good shape with quarterback Nick Higgs, who threw for 2,026 yards and 14 touchdowns last season. The Cowboys also return leading rusher DeShon Mason and leading receiver Darnell Crowder. Fassel wants to establish the running game and has brought in several freshmen backs to help Mason with the load. Despite all the enthusiasm Fassel brings, he knows that the team could repeat last year's record. However, Fassel says he's made his players understand that if they want to avoid that fate, the coaching staff will demand more of them.
