  • Description: The objective of this evaluative, descriptive, longitudinal, field research is to determine the efficacy of Internet Classroom Assistant, ICA, as an instructional resource to lead the teaching learning process in graduate courses in Education. To determine that efficacy, a quantitative and a qualitative analysis of teaching and research activities developed in fourteen courses were made. To know the participants opinion about the efficacy of the Internet platform to achieve the course instructional objectives, at the end of each term, an open answer questionnaire and a non structured interview were applied. Besides, in one course, participant observation and significant registers of more relevant facts were carried on during a month, field notes were also taken as a result of observation. Information was analyzed through source triangulation technique to detect patterns and discrepant cases. Results show the strength of ICA for achieving collaborative work, and creating virtual communities, they also show the efficacy of its usage to achieve graduate students competencies for research, as well as the need to socialize ICT as a learning resource, given a participant reasoned preference for the synchronous traditional tutoring mode.
