  • Description: Fowler examines relationships that nurses have with people who might have some kind of mental health problem. There is a danger of stereotyping people with mental health problems in the way that they occasionally see on the news or in newspapers, when someone commits a horrific murder. While that sort of extreme disorder of social normality should not be ignored, the people who commit those acts are in an extreme minority. When he worked as a full-time mental health nurse, he only met one person out of the many hundreds of patients who had that sort of history; the other 99.9% were very ordinary people who just found life difficult. 0 references
